ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture consists of the gentle insertion of fine needles into the body at acupoints shown to be effective in the treatment of specific health problems. These acupoints have been mapped by the Chinese over a period of 2,500 years and continue to be studied to increasing depths. There are well over 360 acupoints and the decision over which ones to use are often based on both function and location. There are a few different precise methods by which Acupuncturists insert needles. Points can be needled anywhere in the range of 15 degrees to 90 degrees relative to the skin surface, depending on the treatment called for. Acupuncturists can use many different size and style of needles. The needles are disposable and sterile. They are used once and discarded in accordance with medical biohazard regulations and guidelines.
The goal of acupuncture is to balance the flow of qi throughout your body and promote the free flow of qi. This balance may be achieved by using needles on the left side of your body to treat problems on the right and using needles on the lower part of the body to treat problems on the upper part of the body.

TUI NA BODYWORK
Tui Na, which literally means pushing and grasping, refers to a 3000 + year old form of Chinese bodywork that utilizes many common acupoints to achieve results similar to acupuncture, but in a non-invasive way. Some claim that Tui Na came before acupuncture and that when these healers would treat royalty, they were not allowed to touch them and so acupuncture needles became a solution. Ultimately, Tui Na bodywork can heal many of the same problems that acupuncture addresses. It can be a great alternative for children and seniors who are much more sensitive to needles.
Technically, Tui Na is an external therapy that involves a variety of different hand techniques that are geared to address specific conditions. Problems that are more on the surface of the body use lighter hand techniques whereas deeper-rooted organ problems require deeper pressure. Tui Na is an excellent form of massage therapy for physical trauma, and rehabilitation, sports injuries and chronic pain, as well as disorders of the digestive, respiratory and reproductive system.

CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE
Chinese herbs are prescribed by a practitioner based on an individualized pattern and disease diagnosis. The patient will receive a custom written prescription designed to treat both the individual symptoms, while also addressing the patient’s underlying constitutional pattern. The herbs can be given in raw form (bulk), powdered form (granules) or pill form (patents). Chinese herbs consist of many natural substances, from bark, flowers, roots, leaves, twigs and stems. Occasionally, prescriptions may include minerals or shells. They are generally administered 2-3 times per day for chronic conditions and up to 5 times per day for severe acute conditions.
We carefully prescribe our herbal formulas to meet your specific needs. As such, each prescription is custom-tailored to address your condition as well as your underlying condition. The quality and potency of our herbal products meet the strict laboratory standards set by the U.S. and Taiwanese pharmacopoeias. We take pride in the cleanliness of our preparation facility and the purity of our products. Whenever possible, our herbal products are organic.

ACUTONICS
Acutonics is an integrated and harmonic approach to health and healing. It is an energy-based, non-invasive treatment, used both with, and in place of, acupuncture needles. Acutonics utilizes precision calibrated tuning forks on traditional acupuncture points as a means to introduce vibration to the body’s meridians and Chakra energy systems.

MOXIBUSTION (MOXA)
Moxibustion (or “Moxa”) is an ancient form of heat therapy. It uses the ground up leaves of the plant Mugwort (Artemesia Vulgaris). This substance is either rolled up into a solid stick, and burned indirectly over specific acupuncture points, or the powdery substance is burned directly on the needle or on the skin, allowing for heat to deeply penetrate the meridians, yet not burn the skin. The heat stimulates the flow of blood, and increases circulation. The volatile oils in the herb also can stimulate the flow of blood, increase white blood cell counts, boost immunity and nourish the internal organs.

ALLERGY ELIMINATION
Allergy Elimination is a technique that has been helpful in treating and mediating reactivity to numerous foods, substances and conditions to which your body has developed an allergic sensitivity. Nearly ANY substance can potentially cause a negative reaction in you resulting in conditions ranging from annoying sinus/respiratory congestion and itching eyes, to severe respiratory illnesses requiring hospitalization. Many things can become an allergen, from those that are common (milk, pollen, animals or caffeine) to those that we would never suspect (such as plastic, wool or grains). Join the thousands of patients who have been successfully treated with this technique. You can learn more about it Dr. Devi Nambudripads book “Say Good-bye to Illness.”
My doctor told me that acupuncture probably wouldn’t help my allergies, but I tried it anyway. I was referred to Three Moons from a friend of mine that had good success with Chinese medicine. After 4 treatments, there was a significant reduction in my symptoms and by the 7th treatment, it was all but gone. Through some regular seasonal maintenance, I am now happy to report that I no longer have my allergies and I no longer have that doctor.

The initial diagnostic consultation uses applied kinesiology to determine the substances to which you are allergic. Then while holding the vials to which you are allergic, treatment consists of activating a specific series of acupressure points and finishing with a simple acupuncture treatment. “This technique is a truly revolutionary system for dealing with allergies. It is a natural, drug-free, painless, and non-invasive method that can be used safely on everyone-from a one-day-old infant to anyone of advanced age-to permanently eliminate allergies and symptoms arising from previous exposure to allergens and their allergic manifestations.”
You then go home and follow a simple set of instructions for the next 25 hours. This mainly consists of avoiding the allergen for which you were just treated. Allergens are cleared (treated) one at a time with this technique, and best results are obtained if allergens are cleared in a specific sequence. Normally only one item or family of items is treated on a given day. The substance must then be completely avoided for 25 hours following treatment. In most cases, that’s all it takes … one sessions to permanently eliminate an allergy. However, individuals who are highly sensitive may sometimes require additional combination clearing.”

CUPPING
Cupping refers to an ancient Chinese practice in which a cup is applied to the skin and the pressure in the cup is reduced (by using change in heat or by suctioning out air), so that the skin and superficial muscle layer is drawn into and held in the cup. In some cases, the cup may be moved while the suction of skin is active, causing a regional pulling of the skin and muscle (the technique is called gliding cupping).
Cupping is especially effective for local areas of qi and blood stagnation and is often used as a complement to acupuncture. It uses traditional round cup instruments that adhere to the skin and leave small round marks that generally recede within 2-4 days. It is very effective for pain conditions, acute colds/flu, digestive complaints, and menstrual pain.

FACIAL REJUVENATION THERAPY
Facial Rejuvenation, also known as Cosmetic Acupuncture, is a painless, non-surgical method used to reduce the signs of aging. It is a safe and effective alternative to plastic surgery and Botox. The technique uses both acupuncture and Chinese herbal Medicine to help erase years of aging. The treatments address the physical, mental and emotional patterns that cause disease and contribute to the aging process. Facial Rejuvenation helps to alleviate fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, sagging and discoloration of the skin, while simultaneously supporting overall health.
Treatments tighten the pores, improve muscle tone and dermal contraction, increase collagen production and affect its distribution. Tiny acupuncture needles are inserted into specific facial and body points, working to increase local circulation of blood and lymph, and stimulate the body’s natural processes of cell reproduction and growth.
Facial Rejuvenation truly works from the inside out, utilizing the body’s own systems to re-energize and re-vitalize, helping bring the beauty from within back to your appearance.

AURICULOTHERAPY
Auriculotherapy refers to the stimulation of the auricle of the ear by very small acupuncture needles. It is very effective in treating conditions that involve hyperactivity of the Central Nervous System (CNS) such as anxiety, bipolar conditions, addictions, obsessive/compulsive conditions, and a variety of other conditions.
Generally, auriculotherapy is very sedating because it tries to decrease the fight or flight response of the sympathetic nervous systems by increasing the parasympathetic nervous system response. Generally, needles are inserted in the ear on the side of your dominant hand (right handed, right ear). Much like body acupuncture needles, these needles are very fine (even thinner than body needles) and are very short.

NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING
Nutritional counseling is one of the oldest forms of Chinese Medicine. In fact, one of the pioneers of Chinese Medicine, Hua Tuo, said that diet should be the first place we turn, even before acupuncture and herbs. While this is more difficult in todays world, where we are more rushed for time and the amount of processed food we eat is greater, there are many ways to improve your diet and nutrition. We are happy to provide you with a variety of dietary techniques which revolve around regular journaling of food intake and lifestyle habits. We will then suggest certain foods to stay away from and certain food to consume more of, all the while considering your constitution and prevailing condition. We also will address living and eating with the seasons, a concept that integrates local foods, seasonal foods, an understanding of the 5 elements within nature and within yourself. All regular Acupuncture patients will receive nutritional counseling at no additional fee.

ELECTROSTIMULATION
Electrostimulation refers to the application of electrical current to acupuncture needles to keep constant stimulation on the needles. While to the patient the stimulation is mild, the constant stimulation can help difficult and recalcitrant conditions to move when traditional acupuncture may have had a limited effect. Patients with heart conditions and pregnant women should avoid electro stimulation.
